All goat hunting involves backpacking, and can be rigorous

General interest: Hooves have hard outside edge with soft center pads for steep climbing. Horns rarely up to 12".

The mountain goats harvested in our area average 9-10" in horn length.
Our hunters have been 100% successful since 1987.

Mountain goat season runs from August 1st to October 15th.

Diet: mammals, roots, berries, and insects

Range: NW U.S., W. Canada, and AK

Call: growl, snort

Their claws can reach up to 3" long.
Canine teeth may be up to 1.25".

our area squares out at 7 - 8'.
Our success rate during spring hunting is 75%.
During fall hunting season, it is 30%.

Black Bear
Shoulder height: 36 inches

Mass: 300 lbs.

Lifespan: 15 years

Diet: plants, small mammals, birds, insects

Range: E Mexico, Washington, N and SE U.S.,
Canada, and AK

Call: growl, snort

General interest: Able to climb trees.
They hibernate for 5 to 7  months.
Cubs weigh 9 oz. at birth.
Their color could be anywhere from copper,
to honey, to brown to black.

Our success rate during spring hunting is 100%.
During fall hunting season, it is 60%.

Bear hunting seasons are April 15 to June 15 and September 1 to October 31.
